Anti Freeze Solutions : 

➤  Definition :  These are the solutions which are added to the water in extreme winter seasons to lower the freezing point of water below danger point. Due to water is liable to frozen.


➤ Commonly Used Anti Freeze Solutions : 

  • De-Natured Alcohol 
  • Wood Alcohol
  • Glycerine
  • Kerosene
  • Sugar solution 
  • Calcium & Magnesium Chloride 
  • Ethylene Glycol  &  Propylene Glycol 
➣  In Addition , some oils are used as Anti Freeze Solutions 

Affects of coolant freezing : 
  1. When the water is start frozen the area occupied by water may increase and this may cause fracture to cylinder block, Water jackets, Pipes ETC....,
  2. The Radiator may also damaged.
